For the Shrimp Creole:
- 1 lb large shrimp peeled and deveined
- 2 tablespoons olive oil or butter
- 1 onion diced
- 1 green bell pepper diced
- 1 celery stalk diced
- 3 cloves garlic minced
- 1 can 14.5 oz diced tomatoes
- 1 cup tomato sauce
- ½ cup chicken or seafood broth
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon hot sauce optional, for extra heat
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon Creole or Cajun seasoning
- ½ teaspoon dried thyme
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes optional, for spice
- 1 bay leaf
- ½ teaspoon sugar to balance acidity, optional
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley chopped
- 2 green onions chopped (for garnish)
For Serving:
- Steamed white rice or brown rice

Step 1: Sauté the Vegetables
Heat olive oil or butter in a large skillet or Dutch oven over medium heat.
Add onion, bell pepper, and celery (the “Holy Trinity” of Creole cuisine) and sauté for 5 minutes until softened.
Stir in garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
Step 2: Make the Sauce
